Extending Selat for Three More Years

Home In Qattan News Extending Selat for Three More Years

After three productive years of Selat Project, the  A. M. Qattan Foundation and the Prince Claus Fund (The Netherlands) decided to extend their partnership for another three years, and to increase the financial contribution to the project by 30%. Thus, the project will be able to develop new plans and increase its work and effect, especially amongst Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

The past three-year period witnessed remarkable attendance at activities and shows co-produced by the Selat Project in cultural centres in Lebanon and abroad, including the storyteller Khaled El Naanaa’s show Tales…Reborn, which was staged in the 8th Hakaya Festival in Amman and other Jordanian cities, and the inclusion of Sweat video by Mohammad Tamim (Actor) and Hasan Tanji (Director) in the Boston-Palestine Film Festival in the USA.

During “Would You Animate the Story?”, a training project for puppeteers implemented by Les Amis Des Marionettes (Friends of Puppets), young trainers from Yafa Scouts presented a puppet theatre show entitled Shining Childhood at the Nabe' Foundation in Nahr al-Bared Refugee Camp. The show dealt with the subjects of child employment and early marriage among the Palestinian refugee community in Lebanon.

With support from SELAT, Creative Refuge, a publication edited by Febrik team, was launched in the Mosaic Rooms in London.
