On 28 February the Qattan Centre for the Child, in partnership with the Friends of Waldorf Education, concluded the Child-Friendly Area Project, which was aimed at children who were living in Samouni during the Israeli aggression on Gaza in the winter of 2008-2009.

The Centre carried out a comprehensive training programme in partnership with the Friends of Waldorf at varying times between 2009-2013, which offered professional training and development to the Centre’s staff, and to those working at local institutions providing children’s services in Gaza.

The most recent session, held between 3-14 February, included specialised training on stages in a child’s development, and on how to reduce a child’s fear, in addition to training in handicrafts such as making dollies and other simple toys out of basic materials. The session also included professional training in storytelling for children.

The Centre is currently looking to extend its involvement in the Samouni area, where many children are still in need of assistance.
