During this period, the Mosaic Rooms hosted a series of lectures and presentations. Indian analyst Pankaj Mishraspoke about the colonial inheritance and his new book on the subject, From the Ruins of Empire- The Revolt Against the West and the Remaking of Asia. Richard Seymour spoke about support by liberal movements for the Iraq war, this being the subject of his book, The Liberal Defense of Murder.Also, the Mosaic Rooms ran the first part of a cinema season featuring films inspired by the work of Nobel Prize-winning Egyptian author Naguib Mahfouz, marking the centenary year of his birth.
