On 23 October, the Culture and Arts Programme opened  the Young Artist of the Year (YAYA) 2014 exhibition, Suspended Accounts, as part of the second edition of Qalandiya International (QI). The exhibition, curated by Viviana Checchia, showcased the works of nine shortlisted artists who reached the final stage of the competition.

 

The winners were announced on 28 October during a festivity that featured a concert by Lamar, a musical band from the Galilee. The jury awarded joint third place to Noor Abed for her work Penelope, and Farah Saleh for A Fidayee Son in Moscow. Second place went to Noor Abu Arafeh for Observational Desire on A Memory that Remains, while first place was given to Bashar Khalaf for his series of paintings Shadow of the Shadow.

The exhibition drew a large audience. Several field trips for college and school students were organised, including: Dar Al-Kalimah University College (Bethlehem), Pioneers Baccalaureate School (Nablus), Al-Quds Bard College (Jerusalem), Our Lady of the Annunciation School, Saint Joseph School, Beitunia Girls Secondary School, and the Turkish School.
