Gaza – (A. M. Qattan Foundation):

The Child Centre – Gaza (CCG) / A. M. Qattan Foundation has recently concluded a training course that targeted 31 kindergarten educators and principals. The training event was part of the Comprehensive and Quality Early Childhood Care and Development Programmes for the Most Marginalised Children in the Occupied Palestinian Territories project. This initiative is implemented by the CCG with co-funding by Save the Children International.

The project seeks to develop early childhood in the most vulnerable areas across the Gaza Strip. Targeting 30 kindergartens, the project is implemented over a period of three years, from 2018 to 2021.

Held over 29 October-18 November 2018, the training course comprised 27 training hours. It aimed at enhancing the educational environment of kindergartens and empowering educators and principals to manage the educational process in their kindergartens.

The training course addressed several themes, mainly the holistic and integrated approach, active learning strategies, developmental stages of the child, Early Literacy and Math, and Healing and Educational through Arts (HEART).

Maysoun Abu Nahiah, a kindergarten principal in Gaza and participant in the training course, said: “The themes proposed have enriched our knowledge in early childhood and contributed to developing our capacities. We aspire for excellence and creativity in our work with children under the age of 6.”

The project provides kindergartens with a diverse collection of education stories, musical toys, and sets of stationery. It also organises recreational trips for kindergarten children.
