The Child Center-Gaza/AMQF organized an event recently under the title “Meet Little Bits” targeting children from the seventh up to the ninth grades, as part of the CCG 2017 winter program, Rainbow.
This first-time event at CCG aimed to introduce children to smart electronics, using the famous Little Bits Kits – with these kits, children get to build electronic circuits and control them through a group of sensors, software and the internet.
Mahmoud Shukri (12 years old), one of the participants at the event, said, “I did not expect these small colorful pieces to have so many uses and applications. Once I learn how to program them, I can build my own project and develop new ideas – and that’s what I aspire to”.
“I have recently participated in a number of workshops and activities organized by CCG,” added Mahmoud. “For example, I have benefited a lot from the workshops on Android Programming, Website Design and Computer Maintenance.”
Little Bits is an innovative project by Ayah Bdeir, the founder and CEO of a company by the same name. Bdeir established her company in 2011. Her idea, which she presented in a TED talk, originally started as a small project in 2008. It gradually gained ground in the field of education in smart electronics around the world and is currently applied in many educational institutions.
