On October 29, the Programme organised a meeting with writer and intellectual Samuel Shimon (Iraq /Britain), editor-in-chief of Banipal Magazine of Modern Arab Literature, at the Foundation’s headquarters in Ramallah. Mr Shimon talked about the state of modern Arabic literature and the role of Banipal Magazine in presenting Arabic literature in English. This meeting came in the context of a working visit by Shimon, with support from the Foundation, aimed at devoting a special issue of Banipal Magazine for Palestinian literature in the fall of 2012.
