The Qattan Centre for Educational Research and Development organised between 27-28 February the 24th meeting of the Drama in Education Forum entitled 'Theatre in Education'.

During the first day,  the play Facts by director Samer Al-Saber was performed at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre. Facts is a murder mystery set in the West Bank. It is a work of fiction based on a true story. Two detectives — one Israeli, the other Palestinian — investigate the murder of an American archaeologist teaching in the West Bank, where their main suspect is an Israeli settler. Following the performance, actors Kamel Elbasha, Abdelfattah Abusrour and Amer Khalil gave talks and engaged in a group discussion with the audience about the play.

On the second day, Amer Khalil performed a monodrama entitled ‘Eid Qandil’ at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. The show contained a collection of biographical tales: stories about literature, heritage and friendship combined to paint the picture of a single life, in all its inevitable fear, pleasure, pain and discovery.

On the same day, playwright Dima Saqfalhait supervised exercises aimed at developing students’ observational skills, which can then be used to create theatrical characters. Following that, short scenes were written and acted out in groups, with each scene reflecting the background story of a chosen character.
