A call for all Palestinian artists to submit their work!

Inspired by Mahmoud Darwish's poem “In Praise of the High Shadow”—written in 1982, during the siege of Beirut and after the Sabra and Shatila massacre, and read in Algeria before the Palestinian National Council in 1983—we continue to create art amidst the ongoing war in Gaza. This creative endeavour is a form of resistance against the war machine, reflecting the resilience of the Palestinian people. The biennale remains steadfast in its mission to resist silence and foster cultural solidarity. Inspired by the spirit of international unity, it serves as a platform for video art and performance and is dedicated to amplifying voices, fostering dialogue and celebrating cultural diversity. Since its inception, the biennale has championed artists and narratives that challenge boundaries and enrich global discourse, offering forms and spaces that defy erasure and invisibility.

The 8th /si:n/ biennale, in 2024, is in exile. It will be sheltered by Festival Les Instants Vidéo this October in Marseille, and we hope elsewhere in the world after that.

"The biennale refuses to remain silent, or to be silenced. Nor will it abandon the territory where it was born. It will make a stopover in Ramallah".

"The biennale will not leave the stage. ACTION! Let the images flow. Let the pictures speak for themselves".

"The biennale will be written in the same way as a film, through editing. The images will invite spectators to discover other territories. They will offer forms and spaces of resistance to erasure and invisibility".

"What if we imagined a cloud museum (Sahab project) that reflected on tracing as a gesture of resistance to oblivion and dislocation, or even as the creation of one’s own history,  written in the future tense".

"For the poetics of relation, we will cultivate the power of light towards artistic and cultural solidarity in the smallest spaces of the biennale".
